Prophetic Manifestations In The Early Church

THE UPPER ROOM EXPERIENCE IN JERUSALEM:

120 prayering & awaiting the promised Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49) spoke in tongues and prophesied. (Acts 1:8,15: 2:4. Among these was Jesus Christ's Mary, and brothers.


PROPHETIC SCRIPTURAL BASIS FOR PROPHECY IN THE CHURCH IN THE LAST DAYS:

Peter preached that prophetic manifestations would be an earmark of the outpouring of God's Holy Spirit in the last days. This refutes the cessationist theory of some who error in doctrine and say that the "spiritual gifts have ceased." ( Acts 2:17-38)


PHILIP & THE ETHIOPIAN EUNUCH:

Philip sent prophetically by a word from the Lord to the Ethiopian Eunuch. He is specifically told which highway to take. (Acts 8:29-39)


BROTHER ANANIAS FEARS CALMED & HE RECEIVES DIRECTION THROUGH PROPHECY:

Ananias is prophetically sent to Saul of Tarsus by a prophetic word. (Acts 9:10-17)


THE APOSTLE PETER IS SENT TO THE CENTURIAN CORNELIUS:

Peter is sent through a prophetic word to the centurian Cornelius. (Acts 10:44-48, ll:1-18)


CORNELIUS HOUSEHOLD RECEIVES PROMISED THE HOLY SPIRIT:

The household of Cornelius receives the Holy Spirit. (Acts 10:44-48, 11:1-18)


AN EXAMPLE OF PROPHECY FORTELLING FUTURE EVENTS:

God gives a prophetic word to a prophet named Agabus concerning a coming famine. (Acts 11:27-28)




PROPHECY AS A MEANS OF GOD SENDING MISSIONARIES INTO THE FIELD:

God uses an intercessory prayer time as a means of confirming and sending forth a mission team. (Acts 13:1-4)


AN EXAMPLE OF A PROPHETIC JUDGMENT SPOKEN THAT INSTANTLY COMES TO PASS:

God uses the supernatural gift of discernment and prophecy to bring judgment on a magician who attempts to dissuade a convert from the faith. (Acts 13:8-12)

Judas & Silas. (Acts 15:25, 26, 32) Paul and ministry friends are forbidden through prophecy by "the Spirit of Jesus" to go into Bithynia. (Acts 16:6-7)


THE EPHESIAN BELIEVERS AND PROPHECY:

Paul ministers to the Ephesians who believe on Jesus Christ and are baptized into the name of Jesus and immediately "speak in tongues and prophesy." (Acts 19:6)


SERIOUS WARNINGS GIVEN THROUGH THE PROPHETIC WORDS OF FELLOW BELIEVERS:

Prophetic warnings are given to Paul in churches in which he ministers. (Acts 20:22-23)

Prophetic warnings are given to the Apostle Paul at Tyre. (Acts 21:4)


THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN WITH THE GIFT OF PROPHECY:

The evangelist Philip has 4 daughters who all prophesy. (Acts 21:9)



The prophet Agabus enacts a prophetic word for Paul, using a girdle and prophesying "this is the way in which you will be bound if you go to Jerusalem." (Acts 21:10-11)
