Facing the Battle Head-On

I was still in high school when I first enjoyed reading weekly horoscopes, watch some occult stuff and research stuff about rituals, powers, magic and elemental spirits. 

What one thing led to another and I ended up doing the stuff I knew was wrong. And it affected my beliefs, my actions and sad to say my view of being a believer.

It was only through the grace and intervention of God through my brother that led me to freedom - indeed,I was set free from that mindset and got the favor to operate in not the counterfeit gifts but in the essential gifts operated through the power in the Holy Spirit.

But sad to say, many more are being lured into these new age teachings and occult practices. A lot are being played by so-called "voices" that spreads deception, fear and unfortunately false hopes. And I'm afraid that media seems to play more on this mysticism instead of focusing on hope that comes from the Lord through his people, the prophetic people I mean.

How then can we change people's mindset on these things? How can we lure them out of the occult practices and into the genuine and powerful intervention of God through our giftings?

And the only to do it is to battle them head-on, face to face and get where they are.

First, every battle starts with the mind. And if we can change their mindsets by showing them that God's plans, wisdom and power is better than those counterfeits. 

That when every time we speak, we need to reflect God's love, his testimony through our lives. Prophetic or not, it is Christ's testimony through us that brings them to check their own mindsets and desire what we have.

As a true prophetic voice, we need to change how we view these people. We need to view them as people who are bound to deception, bound for an eternal damnation because they practices what is not of God's.

But also, we need to understand where they came from, why they follow these things and ask for wisdom and knowledge how to help them be freed. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free - and we can help them find this way as well.

Second, as a prophetic people, we need to be the front-liners of this war. It is because the most powerful tool to destroy the lies of the enemy is the truth that sets people free! And we are called to be truth-bearers in this end time harvest.

Unfortunately, we don't fight head on because we are afraid of rejection. I sometimes think that we live in a generation that wants to avoid conflict. But the reality of it all is that we will always be in conflict with the darkness around us. 

And we are set to win this war so why be afraid then?

Third, the genuine gifts that we have is far more greater and can change whatever horoscope or any fortune teller will tell. Also, whatever curse these things brings to someone's life can be broken by the prophetic act done through the cross. 

It is through Christ's blood, obedience and mercy that we can go out of the kingdom of darkness mindset into God's wonderful light.

The genuine prophetic voice God has placed in this season must come to terms that the Chief of State, the Rider of the White Horse and the one who's testimony is without blemish won it all. He gives those powerful encounters for us to speak life to others, to stir them into being and to bring back the authority that the enemy has taken away from them.

But to top it all, the real question is what makes us different from the others? What does it take to make our voices to be heard? How can we be the genuine voice that speaks of Christ versus the counterfeit message of the new age movement?

Lastly, does it really make sense to fight head-on or to lurk at the four walls of the church, waiting for them to come in instead of going out and bring hope outside - where the people are?

I don't know about you but it does make sense and I think, we need to not just be aware of it but really do something about it. What do you think?

Redeeming The Prophetic Voice - Part 1

As a prophetic people, we need to be careful how and what we say to others - including the gut feels, the so called visions and the instructions we give to how to do things. It is imperative that we know and is aligned to what God has said through his words.

As part of this series, I'd like to share 5 important lessons I learned growing up as a believer and as a prophetic voice. I'll share these things and will call this article...

5 Things I Learned of God and His Prophecies

I was 14 years old when I first received a prophecy from a lady speaker from the United States. At first, I was skeptical but there was something I felt deep inside to believe what she was saying. What she said came to pass and I've been communicating with her through Facebook since then.

Looking back to what happened then made me realize that there things that we need to be careful of when it comes to prophecies - both from the releasing end and as someone receiving it.

For this post, I'd like to share things that I've learned through time of what we, as prophetic voices should remember when ministering to others. Of course, these are not complete in any way but a good checklist when we minister prophecies to other people:

1. A true word from the Lord will always comes to pass.

From Genesis to Revelation, our God spoke through the prophets and apostles and it came to pass. The stories from the old testament to the new era is considerably a written account of what God revealed through his people and accomplished it as promised.

Simply put, God will always fulfill what He promised. It is the same as prophecies, when God reveals a certain portion of his plans for us - He will accomplish it. As his words say, his promises are always "yes" and "amen".

How about you? Were there words given to you that edified and encouraged you through the years? Have you seen words revealed long ago that was confirmed?

2. A word of prophecy must be aligned to what the bible speaks about a certain topic or situation or condition.

Our main authority for any prophetic word is not the experience nor our feelings but of what the logos has to say about the prophetic word. What does this mean?

It means that whatever was revealed must first be aligned to what was already established by God through the bible. If the words spoken speaks of another Christ, message about salvation or even questionable acts must be checked with God's word.

Just in case you experienced these so-called words, I suggest you consult seasoned leaders and prophetic voices and ask for advice and interpretation. It is not wrong to ask especially when we are kind of confused. This brings clarity and correction if needed.

3. God's prophetic word will not bring chaos to a person's life or fear of what lies ahead.

I am a strong believer of the new testament prophetic voices. I believe that God's word (the logos or rhema) will bring peace of mind, of hope, encourages us when we are down and definitely brings a clearer picture of our victorious future.

It does not bring confusion or rival what God's word says about situations we are experiencing but brings hope and wisdom to what is going on. The word of God does not in every way make us fear our future.

The hope we profess is in Christ Jesus our Lord of which's testimony is the spirit of prophecy.

4. The word from the Lord will always testifies his own goodness.

The amazing thing about God's word is that it remains true to his character and promises. He will not fail the very words he spoke about. Look into the scriptures and you'll learn that the words of prophecy spoken of will always reflect a father in heaven, concerned and wants the best for us.

The greatest thing about God is that He is the father that knows best and a loving father that does not hate or rebukes us without reason. 

We live in a fatherless generation with a culture that speaks differently of fathers. Biblical fathers are wise and full of love and discipline while unfortunately to this season, fathers seems to be absent most of the time, failed to connect to their children and sometimes harsh and brings disciplines differently.

Why relate prophecies to an experience with fathers?

Because a father's word excites us, encourages to move forward with his own unique way of showing love and support. That's how we flow with prophetic accuracy and when we know God as a father. A deeper understanding of who our creator is draws us to speak out of love, out of our knowledge of him and bestowing mercy as He bestowed it to us.

5. God's word never fails even when situations are bleak.

I always remember Joseph's dream and his experiences for forty years. It took forty years for what God has promised to be accomplished.

I also remember Abraham and the promise to make him the father of many nations. He was super old when he had his first son but then again, the Lord accomplished his promise.

Who could forget about the promised Messiah? Jesus' was a fulfillment to all old testament prophecies. From the start of Genesis after the fall to the very words of Micah, the prophet reveals a seed that will sprout in King David's lineage to save the world - from sin, from the devil and from destruction. 

Indeed, when life seems bleak at times comes the very promises of God through His words and the words of his prophetic voices today - us!
