We are living in a season of desperate times. Wars, rumors of wars, persecution of believers in the middle east and other Muslim extremists have been open to executing christian minorities in the area.
One thing I felt about the situation is the fear that we are coming in the last days.
Matthew 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
But as I also reflect on these things, the Lord reminded me that this will also be an exciting time. As what Bill Hamon has said - this will be a season where the Saints of Christ will fulfill its destiny, becoming a testimony to the nations. It is a day where believers will use their gifts, influence and maturity to witness for Christ, hasten his return and spread the gospel. This is not just for a few but for everyone whose been called to serve.
But the main question remains, how do we prepare? How do we set ourselves for this season? Where do we start to fulfill its mandate?
Here are tips that we can follow while waiting for that season:
- Prepare by doing things - our potential and giftings can only mature when used. Have every opportunity a chance to grow in your gifts. Pray for the sick, encourage, prophesy and give mercy. Anything that you can do to enhance your confidence to use your gifts are an opportune time to grow and receive grace from the Lord.
- Pray and devote yourself in the Lord - have quiet times with the Lord. Listen to his voice through his words, through meditation and through worship. Get entangled in His love for you through worship and reflection.
- Take time to wait - I know we are excited to what God will do but He has his own timing. To wait is to rest and be patient. To wait is to trust the Lord's timing. And to wait makes the inner man ready for such a time as this!
These are things we can do for the mean time and I hope we be ready for what is ahead, by God's grace we can overcome!
