Young people today finds answer to life's difficult questions in a variety of ways. Just take a look at talk shows who shares their own sides of things based on their experiences and what self-help books has to say about them. Not to mention, horoscopes and many new age materials free on the Internet brings more harm than good in many aspects of a young person's life.
As young Christians, how do we speak about these issues in life? Where do we base our own opinions or stand in the light of the situation?
We base it on God's infallible words, the Bible.
But what about God's word versus prophetic declarations or voices?
There has been a lot of fuzz lately about preferring to speak in behalf of God thru prophecies that sometimes, being prophetically inclined means being well aware that God's word is infallible. It's the best way to really say what God wants to say in the light of the situation.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but God's word is "useful for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness..." and can definitely stand alone to make things clear.
What do I mean by this? Simply put, when a question arises, let's not go immediately into speaking prophetically (or profitably) but share and encourage thru God's written word, the Logos. It's word gives insight not just of events, but understanding and clarity of purpose of every situations in our life. It brings hope and encouragement to any catastrophic event and guidance to what we should do.
Now, I might be classified as a stereotyped anti-prophetic guy, but I'm not. I honestly believe in prophecy and God's prophetic-apostolic move today, it's just a question of being aligned to what God is doing, and God's perfect Word.
If the two won't coincide, guess who has the problem? (and I don't think it's His WORD!)
I strongly believe that God uses our gifts to edify the church, and people operates in the prophetic to bring clarity and direction of things to come. But as human as we are, let's make ourselves fully aligned to the written word of God - the Bible. It's infallible and trustworthy and has changed the lives of many as proven testament.
